Craftastic Thursdays

I know a very large number of very crafty people. For last couple of months, we've been getting together on Thursday's to craft and socialize, sometimes collaborating on large projects. The location shifts weekly, depending on who can host it at their house and who has a large project that isn't easily transportable.
This week, in addition to working on some things for the upcoming burlesque show, I brought along my craft basket and worked on the Beekeeper's Quilt. I have nearly 40 hexipuffs now, which puts me at about 5% completion. I'm estimating needing around 700 to make a quilt large enough for our large, large bed(Mr. Bear is over six feet tall, you know).

I'm completely obsessed with these squishy little knitted bonbons.

I want to be done already, and have a giant hexipuff quilt to under which to snuggle with Mr. Bear while it snows outside. And maybe there'll be room for Ponyo and Butters, too, though I suspect they would attempt to chew up all my hard work.

I want to make one! This would be an awesome back for Mei's one-year quilt....!!! Of course I was going to make that one two-sided fun with her different clothes.... hmmm.... this is a bit ambitious for me though. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!

  2. When we had her, Ponyo showed an unhealthy obsession with yarn, so I'd be careful. Your little hexipuffs are darling!

  3. You should totally make one, Alice! We could have an international knitalong! :) It's super easy, too. But you need hundreds of them. The designer recommends knitting them for a year and then seeing how many you have at that time.

I've been careful about keeping them away from Ponyo. :) Although, Mr. Bear and I got into a hexipuff fight(a.k.a. the cutest fight ever) where we were throwing handfuls of them at each other, and I looked down to see Ponyo trotting around with a yellow puff in her mouth.

  4. Haha, Chae... easier said than done. I have absolutely NO IDEA how to knit, I'm more of a crochet person... if I could find someone to teach me how to knit then I might consider this, but seriously I have too many craft projects to add this one to it, but it's on my list of "when I have time..." lol

  5. I just discovered the Beekeeper's Quilt and have been searching for blogs where they are talking about them. I have to admit that I'm obsessed with hexipuffs & mini skeins now too! I absolutely LOVE your craft basket!! What an awesome way to keep everything handy!! So, it's been quite a few months....how are you coming on your Beekeeper's Quilt?

    1. Oh, goodness, I haven't knit a hexipuff in many a day. I'm getting married in 13 days, and all my crafting energy has been going that-a-way. I am soooo looking forward to picking up the needles, though. Hey, maybe I'll knit a few AT my wedding!!! XD

Hexipuffs are just like potato chips; you can't stop at just one! I hope you have fun with your Beekeeper's Quilt!
